LANGUAGE AND COGNITION GROUP

Welcome to the Language and Cognition Group at IIT Hyderabad! We conduct research into the nature and form of mental representations of language in normal populations and in people with speech disorders or other types of language impairments. We hope that this can help reveal the the format of the mental organization of linguistic structure. We also investigate the connection between biology and linguistic structures by looking into the empirical conditions in which mechanisms of language development and processing can be examined. This may ultimately show how language as a cognitive system is instantiated in the brain and the mind. In addition, we probe into the computational foundations of human language to construct cognitively plausible hypotheses in the areas of our research interest.
