Welcome to the Language and Cognition Group at IIT Hyderabad. We conduct research into the nature and form of mental representations of language in normal populations ans in people with speech disorders. We hope that this will help reveal the the format of the mental organization of sounds. We also investigate the connection between biology and linguistic structures by looking into the empirical conditions in which mechanisms of language development and processing can be examined. This may ultimately show how language as a cognitive system is instantiated in the mind. In addition, we make computational analyses of linguistic data in the lab to verify the hypotheses that we construct in the areas of our research interest.
